Check eligibility for your organisation and country
Google’s eligibility guidance is country-specific and currently names Goodstack as its validation partner. Check your registered legal entity rather than assuming every organisation describing itself as nonprofit qualifies.
Government organisations, educational institutions and healthcare organisations have exclusions, with some charitable-arm exceptions. Use the official country selector and current guidance for the actual entity applying. Google makes the approval decision.
Find the existing account first
Before starting a new application, check whether a former employee, trustee or agency already requested Google for Nonprofits access. Recovering the existing organisation record is usually more useful than creating a second one under another email.
Use an organisation-controlled account and record the owner and recovery arrangements. The person making the application should be able to receive verification requests and maintain access after staff changes.

Prepare a consistent evidence pack
Have the legal name, official registration number, country and requested evidence ready, making sure the application and documents describe the same legal entity.
- Use the correct legal name rather than an unrelated trading or campaign name.
- Select the existing organisation record when it is correct.
- Use the manual route if the organisation cannot be found.
- Respond to the specific clarification requested instead of repeatedly submitting unrelated documents.
Make the website ready for a real visitor
Before activation, inspect the website without a staff login on desktop and mobile. It should clearly explain the organisation’s mission, provide substantial useful information and offer working navigation and contact details. HTTPS and a fast homepage are only part of a credible experience.
Check deeper destinations and forms too. A donation button leading to an error, an expired appeal or empty programme pages can undermine both the application and future advertising. Keep a list of repairs and verify them before resubmitting after a rejection.
Submit Ad Grants activation
Once Google for Nonprofits is approved, open the Ad Grants product and follow the current activation steps shown there. Google’s current instructions provide the Ads account as part of activation, so do not create a normal paid Google Ads account as a shortcut.
Track the status in the original account and keep the application reference. Allow several business days for review, and respond to any requests for more information rather than creating duplicate applications.
Accept access and record the Customer ID
After approval, follow both the Ads-access and payments-profile invitations described by Google. The grant payments profile is part of account access, not an instruction to fund a paid campaign.
Google asks applicants to allow up to three business days for invitations, check all email folders and confirm approval before using its access support route. Once inside Ads, record the ten-digit grant Customer ID and distinguish it from any paid account.
What to do after approval
Move into landing-page preparation, GA4 and meaningful conversion tracking before building campaigns. Then start with a coherent Search structure around real intentions; add PMax after that foundation is ready. Approval creates the opportunity, but useful delivery still depends on the setup and ongoing decisions.
If you are already approved but see no impressions, the problem is no longer simply the application. Use a delivery diagnostic that examines eligibility, goals, bidding and search coverage.
